Position is responsible for performing Safety- related duties in the facility, ensuring that all Safety regulations and Company policies & practices are followed in order to provide a work environment that is safe to employees and contributes to make the Company an employer of choice.
Assist in identifying unsafe work conditions and practices, documenting and taking appropriate action to eliminate these conditions and behaviors.
Investigation, record keeping and follow up regarding all workplace accidents.
Assist operations with development and maintenance of training checklists, SOP’s, qualification matrix, job descriptions, and other training materials as required.
Assist in working with Workers Compensation carrier to ensure cost effective and appropriate handling of all workers compensation claims.
Determine requirements and coordinate supplying appropriate safety equipment and PPE to employees.
Ensure that log of occupational injuries and illnesses is maintained and posted.
Maintain all written safety programs.
Schedule, prepare and track attendance at monthly safety training sessions.
Track safety incentive program.
Participate on SRMP Team.
Schedule and coordinate required industrial safety testing and monitoring.
Participate in plant Safety Committee and facilitate meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or GED required; two years’ college or equivalent education preferred
One to three-year previous work experience in the health and safety field within a manufacturing environment
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers/vendors, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, ratios. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS :
OSHA certification highly desired
Good verbal & written communication skills.
Good presentation skills
Ability to communicate with employees at all levels
Able to multi-task and solve problems effectively.
Must have computer skills in applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
